Newsletter April 2008

John Palmer (Theseus) and Martyn Fry

View from the Chair.
Midsummer Summer Night’s Dream is past and AGM time is upon us. We will be looking for new committee members and officers this year. I will be stepping down as Chair and also as committee member, so now it is your chance to really get involved.  We shall need a new Chair and at least one more committee member, do think about it.

Annual General Meeting
The AGM itself will be held in the Baptist Lounge on Thursday 17th April at 7.30 pm. The meeting will be in two parts, a short formal report on the past year and finance, and election of the new committee. There are two small changes to the constitution proposed which will need to be voted on. Proposed changes to the constitution.
1. The AGM shall be held as soon as possible after 31st March
(This should avoid Lent and give the Treasurer and Auditor time to prepare the accounts)

2.
Withdrawals shall be made in the name of the group on the signature of any two of the following: Chairman, Treasurer, and such other persons as the committee shall deem appropriate.
(This will allow for changes in the committee and allow time for bank procedures)

After several years on the committee and two years as Chair, I would like to say a really big ‘Thank You’ to all of you for making The Players such a success. Well done everyone!

After the formal part of the AGM, refreshments will be served and the second part of the evening will give everyone a chance to make suggestions for future productions and to see reminders of Midsummer Night’s Dream on DVD, thanks to Jenny Diesel.

Do you want to know what we shall be doing next?
This is your opportunity to come along and tell us what you would like to do. We are actively looking for new plays, shows and directors. It is likely that we shall be performing a pantomime over two days nearer Christmas which Joe Kinane has written but there is nothing else in the pipe-line as yet. Do make every effort to come along and to give us your views.

John Palmer
CKCP Chairman
